Writer, screenwriter and playwright, Abigail Carney is this year’s melodrama author. She will be rewriting this Fall’s play, “Paris of the Pacific”, which will be holding auditions on July 13th and 14th at 6 PM at the Sitka Pioneer Home.

Carney talks about the history of the melodrama and discusses her other works in fiction and theater.

“Melodramas are a lot fun because, in addition to the cast, the audience is also encouraged to participate, and in Sitka it naturally makes sense to set one during the Alaska Day festivities,” she said.

Members of Sitka Community Theater are holding auditions for this winter’s Radio Adventure Hour – an hour of live radio theater with live sound effects – at Rasmuson Center.

Auditions are 5:30 p.m. Monday, September 26, and 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 28,
