<p>Chris Washko, the Student Success Center Manager at the <a href="http://www.uas.alaska.edu/" target="_blank">University of Alaska Southeast</a>, talks about the university&#8217;s participation in the <a href="https://www.cbyx.info/" target="_blank">Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange</a> (CBYX), an exchange of 75 Americans and 75 German professionals.</p>
<p>For the first year, Sitka will be a host site for one of these students, a Bavarian resident named Alexander who is working in IT. Washko gives a glimpse inside Alexander&#8217;s life in Sitka and prerequisites for a potential host family. Alexander will arrive in late August of this year. German students from CBYX are also hosted at Kenai Peninsula College and Prince Williams Sound Community College.</p>
<p>The fellowship is funded by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag and is open to candidates in all career fields who are interested in a year of cultural exchange. The funding covers round trip airfare and tuition.</p>
