One of the original tenants at the Gary Paxton Industrial Park in Sitka is offering to buy the property it’s leased for the last 12 years, but the deal is not sitting well with the park’s board.
There will be no bulk water shipments from Sitka this summer. The company that owns the rights to market Sitka’s Blue Lake water will likely ask to extend its deadline. Meanwhile, Sitka is fielding inquiries from other companies interested in bottling Blue Lake water, but the city is running out of land at its industrial park and is looking to expand.
Sitka's industrial park board has more faith in seafood than in bulkwater at the moment. At its last meeting (6-25-15) the board opened negotiations to provide Silver Bay Seafoods with more land.

Plans are moving ahead for a multi-purpose dock at Sawmill Cove Industrial Park, but the public can still play a large role in designing the final product.
The Sawmill Cove board convened a special meeting last night/Monday night (4-28-14) in Harrigan Centennial Hall to review possible scenarios for the dock, which -- for the moment -- is intended to handle barge traffic.
