All individual parties in litigation surrounding a fatal landslide in Sitka in August, 2015, have settled out of court, averting a 6-week trial. The dispute between the developer of the Kramer Avenue neighborhood and the City of Sitka, however, remains in litigation.
One hundred Sitkans contested their property values last month, but the vast majority of those cases were resolved with the city. Most property owners saw an increase of 8% on this year’s assessment.
