Walking through dreamscapes with illustrator Ramona Ring

Ramona Ring is a freelance illustrator based in Hamburg, Germany and one of six Sitka Fellows in residency this month at the Island Institute. This summer, Ring is working on a graphic novel about a child growing up in a dysfunctional family. Ring will be doing postcard-sized portraits of Sitkans at the Backdoor every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m through September 2, 2015. Downloadable audio. Read More

UAS to host German young professional this year

Chris Washko, the Student Success Center Manager at the University of Alaska Southeast, talks about the university's participation in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX), an exchange of 75 Americans and 75 German professionals. For the first year, Sitka will be a host site for one of these students, a Bavarian resident named Alexander.
