The Sitka Tribe of Alaska was awarded funding by the National Forest Foundation for a Community Capacity Grant. Jen Hamblen and Chohla Moll talk about the grant and what it will be used for.

This grant will help the Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA) staff organize meetings for stakeholders and local experts in watershed science to solve the habitat impairment challenges currently facing the Indian River.

The Indian River Watershed working group will unite diverse stakeholders (property, ecosystem values, and water rights) within this watershed to research the needs and develop a watershed restoration plan that will improve stream habitat. Recent collaborative work between water rights stakeholders on Indian River presents a timely opportunity to bring in additional stakeholders motivated to ensure a productive Indian River ecosystem now and for future generations.
