As opposition increases, Sitka’s industrial park board postpones action on Highmark haulout proposal

The board of Sitka’s industrial park is postponing a decision about placing the city’s new marine haulout under private management, after continued backlash from the public. At least forty people turned out to Wednesday’s (2-26-25) meeting of the board to register their objections to a proposal from Highmark Marine of Kodiak to operate the facility rent-free.Read More
