Garbage rates to rise 21%
At its regular meeting this week (01-12-16), the Assembly passed an ordinance to raise Sitka's garbage rates, appointed over a dozen Sitkans to committees, and learned about the Planning Commission's process for revamping the Sitka Comprehensive Plan.

No deal yet for interim hospital CEO
The Sitka Hospital Board has not yet come to terms with their candidate for interim CEO, and has turned negotiations over to their attorney. The board last week met to offer the interim post to Rob Allen, who was their second-pick for the top job when it became open last summer.
