Alaska DOT says private charters could soon fill in for Alaska Marine Highway System ferries
The state says it's received interest from private operators to run ferries on Upper Lynn Canal, Angoon, Hoonah and Kake. There's no word on service to communities like Pelican and Tenakee Springs left off the winter schedule.
