Kicking the (frozen) bucket
Bill Foster won't worry about coming up with an "ice-breaker" at his next party. The former Sitka biology teacher visited Nome this month to witness the Coast Guard Cutter Healy as it escorted the fuel tanker Renda through the pack ice. Foster, who taught in Nome from 1969-1971, says "seeing an ice-breaker at work was on my bucket list."
