‘Opening the Box’ kits allow students to explore space between art, science, and culture

SeaAlaska Heritage is providing Blatchley students with a "maker kit" in January. The kits, which are going out to over 1,300 students in six Southeast communities, emphasize traditional learning and hands-on experience in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). One-of-a-kind photo collection documents life in Angoon

Cyril George was a leader in the Beaver Clan of Angoon and was known for his contributions to local and regional politics. He was also known by those he was closest to as a photographer. When he died six years ago at the age of 92, he left behind a vast photo collection that is thought to be the largest ever made by someone who was Tlingit. George’s family recently donated those photos with the goal of making them available to the public. Read More
