In a packed gym of beaming family and friends, seventy students became alumni of Sitka High School. Speeches were given. Selfies were taken. And while students and staff reflected on the journey ahead, many paid homage to their Sitka roots.
In November 20, 2015, a host of talented Sitkans with the GSAC Sitka Community Theater put on a production of four live radio dramas. There's two original plays, a re-telling of the classic "Pride and Prejudice," and a romantic comedy with a twist.
DDF (Drama, Debate, and Forensics) has one of the longest seasons in the school year. It all got started last weekend with a practice meet hosted by Sitka High. Sitka seniors Ceilia Lubin and Michael Boose, and MEHS junior Hayley Stumpf and sophomore Breezianne McClenahan, discuss some of their events. With SHS coach Stefanie Ask.

The Sitka School Board on Monday night adopted a new English Language Arts curriculum for the district, beginning next school year. The so-called ELA is designed to prepare students to meet new standards developed by the state Department of Education.
