Should Sitka change the name of Kettleson Memorial Library?

Curt Ledford, chair of the Library Commission, was joined by library supporter Bill Foster to discuss an upcoming decision by the Commission to rename Kettleson Memorial Library. Foster suggested renaming it, simply, Sitka Public Library. All aboard the Hogwarts Express

Last Thursday (2-5-15), staff of the Kettleson Memorial Library transformed the Stratton location into the Hogwarts castle, complete with floating candlesticks, owls, and of course, a competition for the House Cup. The publisher Bloomsbury Children's Books declared February 5th the first "Harry Potter Book Night," an annual event to celebrate the series. Read More

Kettleson move brings ‘soul’ back to former campus library

Without much fanfare, Sitka’s entire public library was relocated to temporary quarters last month. Thousands of books, the shelving to hold them, computers, and furniture were packed across Crescent Harbor to the Stratton Library on the Sheldon Jackson Campus, to make way for contractors preparing to enlarge Kettleson Memorial Library.
