<p>Spring is here, and that means Sitka Sound will soon be bustling with returning herring, whales and other marine creatures. The Sitka Sound Science Center&#8217;s annual <a href="https://sitkawhalefest.org/food-web-cruise/">Food Web Cruise</a> will provide an opportunity for participants to see that action up-close while learning from expert naturalists about the marine food web. </p>



<p> Kari Paustian, Matt Goff, and Tiffany Pearson joined KCAW&#8217;s Erin Fulton to share more about the upcoming cruise, which is a fundraiser for Sitka Whalefest. In addition to having brunch and sight-seeing, participants will be the first to learn the theme for this year&#8217;s Whalefest. Listen to the full interview here:</p>

<p>The Greater Sitka Arts Council is on the hunt for designers for the 2024 Wearable Arts show. The show&#8217;s theme will be &#8220;The Sky is the Limit.&#8221; Tiffany and Elizabeth Pearson and Bobbi Jordan joined KCAW&#8217;s Darryl Rehkopf to talk about the planning process and how Sitkans can get involved. <p>Tiffany Pearson and Jeff Budd discuss the program of this year&#8217;s WhaleFest, which runs November 3-6. Nine visiting speakers cover topics on reproduction in marine ecosystems, everything from how octopuses &#8220;fight and shag,&#8221; to mating in &#8220;troubled waters&#8221; for the albatross. There are workshops for students of all ages (including adults), a cruise, the Maritime Grind (7 p.m. Friday, November 4, Harrigan Centennial Hall) hosted by Budd), a film festival, a necropsy, and a fun run.
