The public comment period on proposed language governing the use of sea otter hides in authentic Native handicrafts will close at the end of this month, on Saturday March 31st. The draft language from the US Fish & Wildlife Service is called “Guidance on Authentic Native Articles of Handicraft and Clothing made from Sea Otters.” (Note: This document has contact information for the public to comment.)

KCAW’s Robert Woolsey speaks with local sea otter hunter Peter Williams about the meaning of “significantly altered,” and his efforts to raise awareness among artists about the issue.
