Like their female counterparts, the Sitka High boys yesterday (Wed 3-4-15) lost their first game of the Region V Basketball tournament in Ketchikan.

The Wolves lost to their cross-bridge rivals, Mt. Edgecumbe, 46-55.

Sitka had received a first-round bye in the tournament. The Braves, on the other hand, blasted past Petersburg on Tuesday 49-65.

Sitka will meet Petersburg at 9:45 this morning. The loser will be out of this double-elimination tournament. The winner will go on to play Mt. Edgecumbe tomorrow at 1:15 — but would have to beat the Braves twice in order to claim the championship.

On the girls’ side, Petersburg remains undefeated, having beaten Sitka on Tuesday, and Mt. Edgecumbe yesterday. The Lady Vikings bested the Lady Braves 42 to 28.

Like the boys, the Sitka and Mt. Edgecumbe girls will play this morning at 8 AM, and the loser will be out. The winner will have another shot a the title against Petersburg at 11 AM tomorrow, but would have to beat the Lady Vikings twice to be crowned champs.
