The Sitka Fine Arts Camp’s (SFAC) is staging a full-scale production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, with an all-student cast who put the entire show together in two weeks. WT McRae, musical director, said this is the Musical Theater Camp’s most ambitious production yet – in terms of line memorized, set size, and choreography.

Two students from the production, Olivia Rivera and Victoria Ingram, play Mrs. Potts and the Wardrobe (aka Madame de la Grande Bouche). Rivera and Ingram talk about personifying inanimate objects and in Rivera’s case, taking on the challenge of singing the iconic song “Tale As Old as Time.”

SFAC’s Beauty and the Beast debuts on Friday, July 24 at 7 p.m. at the Sitka Performing Arts Center. Additional performances are at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and senior citizens at Old Harbor Books and the camp office.
