The Sitka Community Garden was formerly located behind Blatchley Middle School. The group has won $2,000 in seed money to relocate.
Robin Sherman and Ben Timby developed the two goals chosen by the Sitka Health Summit to pursue this year. Sherman proposed consolidating the several organizations concerned with local foods/food security under one umbrella group. Brainstorming will continue at 6:30 PM Thu Dec 8 in the See House. Timby is with the Community Garden; they hope to have a new space identified and functioning within a year. Their next meeting is 6 PM Thu Dec 1 at Sitka Community Hospital.
