Sitka High School is hosting a Career Fair on Wednesday, April 25th from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The fair is open to all Sitka High and Pacific High School Students. Employers will be there to answer questions and some are looking to hire.

SHS principal Laura Rogers and Matthew Jackson with Youth Advocates of Sitka talk with reporter Emily Kwong about what students and employers can expect. “We really want them to feel like the community is supporting them in making these communications, not that they’re being dropped into a fish bowl,” said Jackson. Rodgers added, “This isn’t a make or break situation. This is about getting some practice and experience.”

Jackson also noted  that YAS’s youth-run business has changed names, from “Latitude 57” to “The Smoothie Truck.” They’ll be in operation this summer. See their Facebook page here.
