The Sitka Assembly will soon disclose information about the proposed sale of Sitka Community Hospital to Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). At a special meeting on Thursday, assembly members voted to release copies of the asset purchase agreement and lease agreement to the public on March 15.

“The negotiating team and I feel that the documents are complete as far as the negotiations and the direction the assembly has given us initially,” said City Administrator Keith Brady to assembly members. Brady did not disclose any information about the agreement, and recommended that the assembly move to executive session for further discussion.

Assembly member Kevin Mosher then made a motion to go into executive session. The motion passed 4-2 with assembly members Valorie Nelson and Richard Wein voting against. Assembly member Kevin Knox was not in attendance.

They returned over an hour later, and assembly member Aaron Bean made a motion to release the draft of the APA and lease agreement to the public on March 15. The motion passed unanimously.

After the APA is released on March 15, it will be available to the public for four weeks. It is anticipated the assembly will vote on the agreement in April.
