My name is Lesa Way, and I am running for Sitka Tribal Council. I have served on the Tribal Council for just over five years. These few years, the tribe has grown leaps and bounds. It has been a challenge and hugely successful in the short time.

I am very proud of the work the Tribe does and the dedication of all of our employees. If I had to choose a single, most-important focus for our tribe, it would be education.

I feel if we educate our young people, support our youth so that they all complete high school and have the opportunity to get a college degree so that they can return and lead our tribal entities in the future.

The social services, natural resources and our legal department and all departments and staff do great work. The tribe and tribal organizations are providing great benefits for our tribal citizens and for the community of Sitka.

I hope you trust me to help guide the tribe, but most important is to exercise your right to vote. So many before us sacrificed so that we have the opportunity to vote.
