Another Sitkan has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Sitka Unified Command announced the new case on Monday (9-14-20). The young man is between the ages of 10 and 19 and had symptoms when he received testing on September 11, according to a city press release.

The city is reporting 59 total cases of the coronavirus. That includes 42 resident cases and 17 nonresident cases. One case is active, and two cases have been reported in the last two weeks.

The city reported the same case count after releasing information about a case on Friday. Emergency Operations Public Information Officer Jessica Ieremia said the state misclassified Friday’s case as a Sitka resident and has now corrected the mistake.

At last count, the State of Alaska reported 7,313 total cases of the coronavirus. Around 57 percent of those cases are considered active.
