Census data informs everything from how much federal funding Alaska receives to the number of seats state’s have in the U.S. House of Representatives. This year’s census count has faced unseen hurdles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the September 30the deadline to respond is fast-approaching. Alaska Federation of Natives Executive Vice President Nicole Borromeo spoke with KCAW’s Robert Woolsey about how to fill out this year’s census, why it’s important to do so, and a special incentive that AFN and First Alaskans Institute are offering to participants.
