Sitka Assembly candidate Mary Ann Hall has dropped out of the race. Municipal Clerk Sara Peterson announced that Hall notified the office of her withdrawal in writing on Thursday morning (8-13-26).
Mary Ann Hall is a longtime Sitkan– she serves on the Sitka Homeless Coalition and the Local Emergency Planning Commission, and previously served on the Sitka Community Hospital Board. In an interview with the Daily Sitka Sentinel last week, Hall said she was running because she wanted to do something for her community.
Since Hall withdrew from consideration before the August 21 deadline, her name will not appear on the municipal ballot in October. Three candidates remain in the running for two open seats on the Sitka Assembly– JJ Carlson, Darrell Windsor and Sherri Blankenship.
