Sitka’s landslide risk level increased from low to medium on Monday evening. That’s according to a local dashboard that tracks rainfall data to determine landslide risk.
A “medium” risk level means isolated landslides have occurred in Sitka with similarly intense rainfall in the past. As of press time, the risk level was expected to drop at 10 p.m. Visit https://sitkalandslide.org/ for risk level updates and recommendations for emergency preparedness.
The dashboard is hosted by the Sitka Sound Science Center in collaboration with a number of other organizations.
