A dozen first graders from Xóots Elementary School harvested Tlingit potatoes from Pacific High School’s garden this morning (10-14-26). In the spring, the then-kindergartners planted the root vegetables while Tlingit storyteller David Kanosh taught them the history of the potato in Southeast. Andrea Fraga, the garden coordinator at PHS, helped a handful of first grade classes dig them up this week. Students will use the potatoes in a stone soup they plan to make during a cooking lab.
