This June, Raven Radio set out to raise $5000 to support our online services and thanks to you, we met our goal in the early morning hours of June 30th! We are grateful for your support.

Transmitter outage in Sitka fixed!

KCAW is broadcasting in Sitka again as of 11:30am Thursday, July 6th. Raven Radio's broadcast signals, on 104.7 and 90.1 FM were dropping out sporadically as of 2am on the Fourth of July and then went out for good on Wednesday morning when a component of the transmitter failed. We installed a spare component, called an "exciter", but that also failed, so we had to get together a third solution, which is working wonderfully! We apologize for the inconvenience and would like to give a big shout out to the incredible engineering skills of CoastAlaska Chief of Engineering Rich Parker...all done remotely! Thanks Rich!

Temporary outage of translator broadcasts

Because of an outage of the state satellite system Raven Radio's broadcast to our translator communities is temporarily down. Engineers are working on the problem and hope it will be resolved soon. Thank you for your patience.

The Fates Afoot

We have had a great time working together at Raven Radio and it is time to announce that we will be resigning at the end of August, just a couple months shy of co-managing for two years. Ken will have worked for Raven Radio 27 years straight, even editing Encounters while away from Sitka for six months. We are stepping away happy, and will be staying in Sitka and making ourselves available for new opportunities. Nothing specific to report on that front...yet. Thanks to each of you that have made our time at Raven Radio such a pleasure!

We'll be ready to serve 700 free root beer floats... so make sure you come and get yours! KCAW is hiring a Program Coordinator

Raven Radio is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to assist the General Manager with programming, operations and managing large on-air volunteer program. Required qualifications: strong production and on-air skills; demonstrated organizational, teaching and computer skills; ability to work with wide variety of people and to work flexible hours. Only Fools Run at Midnight! Celebrate Solstice with Family Fun!

Online pre-registration is now closed for Only Fools Run at Midnight on Saturday, June 24th! Don't worry though! Registration the night of begins at 11pm and is $25. T-shirts for the first 200 to register. This costume-clad evening of family fun is full of prizes for fastest finishers, best costumes, and wackiest centipede – 5 or more people attached in some form or fashion!
