ANB celebrates 100th at ANB/ANS Grand Camp in Sitka

The Alaska Native Brotherhood was founded in Sitka in 1912. The Grand Camp meeting returns to Sitka this year for a celebration of ANB’s centennial, and the annual gathering with the Alaska Native Sisterhood. ANB Camp No. 1 President Gerry Hope, and ANS Camp No. 4 President Jean Arnold offer details on what’s ahead.

Another deer found with wire snare near Sitka

A second deer is on the mend, after being caught in a wire snare in downtown Sitka. State Fish & Game biologist Phil Mooney shot the doe with a tranquilizer dart Tuesday (9-16-14) near the Hames Center. Like a deer captured last Friday, this animal also had a smooth wire around its neck. more

DDF practice meet works out the kinks

DDF (Drama, Debate, and Forensics) has one of the longest seasons in the school year. It all got started last weekend with a practice meet hosted by Sitka High.
