Students in Hillary Seeland’s Social Studies class at Pacific High School in Sitka have been invited to produce a story this spring for PBS Newshour’s “Student Reporting Labs.” The project is designed to teach students to report, problem-solve, synthesize information, and investigate important topics through journalism. The class is collaborating with local filmmaker Ellen Frankenstein and the KCAW News Department. If they finish a story, there’s a shot at the big time: nationwide airplay on PBS Newshour. We’ll see if they’re still smiling at deadline!
