Power was out in Sitka for just under two hours Wednesday afternoon, when a tree fell across the main transmission lines on Green Lake Road.

Linemen had the line back up in an hour and a forty minutes. The grid was re-energized shortly thereafter.

Thursday’s outage was unrelated to Wednesday’s outage, which was caused when a protective relay trip at the Jarvis Street diesel substation. Electric Department workers had taken the Blue Lake plant offline for maintenance, and the fault occurred as power was restored.
