Sitka Love Notes is a one-day project devoted to getting your messages of love on air. Drop a note to emily@kcaw.org or in the boxes at the Larkspur, Highliner, or Backdoor.

Forget the cheesy chocolates and teddy bears. Valentine’s Day is all about telling someone how you feel. Raven Radio is here to help.

Sitka, I implore!
Where are all the men hiding?
Boats, bars, trails, or work?
-Anonymous haiku, submitted last year

This year’s 2016 Sitka Love Notes project is back and bigger than ever, with more hosts reading your confessions of love, friendship, and plain ol’ appreciation. There’s three ways to participate….

  1. Write a love note and address it to someone specific (e.g. your wife, your boyfriend, your grocer, your cat, your mystery crush, etc — it can include their name, or not. Your call.) Include whether you want your identity to be kept secret on air. Send to emily@kcaw.org
  2. Drop a letter in one of the boxes around town (pen and paper provided). They’ll be available all week at the Larkspur Cafe, Highliner Coffee Company, and the Backdoor Cafe.
  3. Write a letter during Professor Math Trafton’s Love Letter workshop on Wednesday (02-10-16) at the University of Alaska Southeast from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We will explore the nature of love letters, read a few from famous authors, and then practice putting our feelings on page.

For inspiration, check out some of our favorite love notes from last year.
