The Coast Guard medevaced a cruise ship passenger from Yakutat on Tuesday (06-27-17), after he reported a leg injury.

Watchstanders received a medevac request from the cruise ship Crystal Serenity, when a 57-year-old man reportedly fractured his femur.

Air Station Sitka launched a Jayhawk helicopter crew, which hoisted the man and transported him 12 miles southwest to Sitka. The passenger was then taken to SEARHC’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital for further treatment.

Weather on scene was reported as 17-mph winds and 8-foot seas with light rain.
