Hannah Brinkmann is a comic artist from Hamburg, Germany, one of six fellows in residence at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp.

Hannah has studied in Tel Aviv and Angoulême, before studying illustration and earning her Master’s Degree at HAW Hamburg. There, she discovered the world of comic books and saw it as a chance to combine her love of drawing with her urge to tell stories. She is the Co-Founder of the online comic magazine ODRADEK and is an organizer for Comic Festival Hamburg. This year, she was nominated for the Comic Book Prize by the Berthold Leibinger Foundation.

While in Sitka, Brinkmann is developing a graphic novel about her uncle and family history. The project has deepened her research into post-war German history. She’s teaching a free one-page comic workshop on Thursday, August 17th in Yaw Chapel at 7 p.m.
