The Sitka intersection where Sawmill Creek Road meets Degroff Street will be fully closed Sunday for paving.

The City and Borough of Sitka and contractor K&E Alaska will pave the excavation, as part of a larger project to replace critical infrastructure underground. They will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at approximately 6 p.m. During that time, the intersection will be completely shut down.

In a statement issued today, the city asked all drives to comply with traffic control signals that will route cars around construction.

If the weather is poor, paving may take place on Monday, October 29th instead. For more information about this project, contact the Public Works Department at 747-1883 or K&E Alaska, Inc. at 747-3838.
