The Roadless Rule is a 2001 environmental conservation law that protects 45 million acres of national forests across the country from logging, including over nine million acres of the Tongass. Last month, the United States Department of Agriculture filed a plan to repeal it. The deadline to submit public comment on a proposed plan to repeal the Roadless Rule has now been extended to October 6. Sitka Conservation Society Executive Director Andrew Thoms joined KCAW for the Morning Interview to discuss the Roadless Rule and local opportunities for public participation. Listen here:
