Firefighters tamped out a parked off-road vehicle after it caught fire Monday afternoon (9-14-26).

In an interview with KCAW, Sitka Fire Department Engineer Zach Carlson said shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, the fire hall responded to a report of a vehicle fire at Back Beach, on Eagle Way. When a crew arrived on the scene, they found a side-by-side UTV on fire, fully ablaze. No injuries were reported, and the crew was able to put out the fire quickly, returning to the fire hall around 3 p.m.

An investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
