Sitka school district lists possible budget cuts

With an audience of parents, teachers and students looking on, Supt. Steve Bradshaw distributed a list of ideas labled “Possible cuts.” Bradshaw said they're not recommendations, just ideas.

Canadian aircraft, crews flying in Sitka skies this week

The aircraft from Vancouver Island, along with the U.S. Coast Guard’s MH-60T helicopter managed to get up in the air for a little while on Thursday. But as the snowflakes moved in and visibility moved out, they returned to the Air Station Sitka and put the training on hold.

Safety summit

Students from Blatchley Middle School spent Feb. 24 learning cold water and wilderness safety from the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association, the U.S. Coast Guard and a host of community volunteers.

Sitka teen accused of molesting 6-year-old on bus

A Sitka grand jury indicted 18-year-old Alexander Evans on five counts of sexual abuse of a minor. According to a complaint, the incidents occurred on a bus the high school student rode with younger students.
