Zeke Blackwell with the Sitka Fine Arts Camp talks about their upcoming production of Peter Pan, which debuts October 23 at the Odess Theater. The J.M. Barrie play is open to Sitkans age 7 to 18. This is the largest play to be produced by the Young Performer’s Theater. Last year’s fall play was East of the Sun, West of the Moon. For Peter Pan, Blackwell talks about casting across gender, creating a sensitive portrayal of Native Americans, and his plans for staging the flying scenes.
Auditions for the 25-member cast will be held Thursday, September 10 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Yaw Art Center. Those interested can sign up for a 10-minute audition slot or by calling 747-3045.
