Driver injured in crash with HPR utility pole

Members of Sitka’s police, fire, and electric departments responded Sunday afternoon (9-9-18) after an SUV struck a utility pole in the 4700 block of Halibut Point Road. The driver was transported to Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital. No power outage resulted from the incident.

Churches coordinate a free sack lunch program on Sundays

Sitka's church community is working together to provide a free meal to locals on Sundays. Sack lunches are available every Sunday at the Sitka Lutheran Church from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Inside are two sandwiches, fruit, and other snacks.
