Open your home to homeless Sitka youth

Youth Advocates of Sitka was recently awarded a three-year federal Transitional Living Program (TLP) grant aimed at combating homelessness among Sitka youth by housing them with volunteers. YAS Executive Director Charlie Woodcock spoke on the Morning Interview to ask Sitkans to step forward and open their homes to youth in need.

A Russian folk dance group that feels like family

The New Archangel Dancers are holding auditions to recruit new dancers this fall. The open house is Saturday, October 20th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the New Archangel Studio at 208 Smith Street. "The Big Show" is this Friday, October 12th at 7 p.m. at Harrigan Centennial Hall.

Sitka Health Summit chooses two community wellness projects

The 12th annual Sitka Health Summit convened last Thursday to choose two projects to promote positive health outcomes in the coming year. Out of 50 proposals, the winning projects were a teen center with resources for Sitka's youth and expanded services and housing for elder care in the city.
