School Board supports property tax increase

The Sitka School Board met last Thursday (09-25-156) for the first meeting of the school year. And at the top of their list was a resolution to support raising property taxes in Sitka. The October 4th ballot will ask voters to approve raising the cap by two mills.

Youth theater seeks ninja nuns, 7-18, for ‘Trials of Robin Hood’

Zeke Blackwell will direct this fall's The Trials of Robin Hood, by the Young Performer's Theater. Auditions will be Tuesday and Wednesday, September 6 and 7. No memorization is necessary. Cooperative Extension to keep doors open in Anchorage, Sitka

The Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Alaska Fairbanks planned to close two offices this fall due to state budget cuts - one in Anchorage and the other in Sitka. But today (08-31-16), Extension leadership announced a plan to keep both offices open.

‘Passion’ and experience ideal for school board seat
