The Sitka Assembly is throwing its support behind a senate bill to study the history and effects of residential boarding schools in the United States.

Haulout ballot prop will go to voters this fall

Voters will now decide whether to fund a marine haulout using money from the sale of Sitka Community Hospital. When the Sitka Assembly met last night (7-26-22), it approved a ballot proposition asking voters to tap the city’s permanent fund to cover the costs of the project.

The Sitka Assembly Tuesday night (7-12-22) approved on first reading a ballot question asking residents to spend the proceeds from the recent sale of the community hospital to build a new marine haulout at the city’s industrial park.

Air Station Sitka welcomes new commander
