Amy Morrison: School Board Candidate Statement

I am running for the Sitka School Board because I want to serve the community that I have been a part of for the past 22 years. As a parent of three children in the Sitka School district, I have been actively involved in their education and extracurricular activities, including school sports, music programs, and drama/arts.

Sitka’s waste contractor to impose fees for contaminated recycling

Recently, Sitka's contractor Republic Services announced it would visually inspect deliveries of recyclables, and any load presumed to be more than 10-percent contaminated would be subject to a fee of $150/ton.

Boots, Season’s End Celebration join forces in weekend festival

The YAS, Sitka Local Foods Network, and Chamber of Commerce are partnering to host this year's Running of the Boots and Season's End celebration this Saturday (9-22-18). It's the 24th Running of the Boots, and the 12th Season's End Celebration. Lincoln Street will be a pedestrian mall with food, events, and music.

Kindings’ swing dancing classes return to New Archangel Studio

Swing dancing classes return on October 2nd, taught by Beth and Owen Kindig. The lessons are every Tuesday at the New Archangel Dancers Studio from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., with open dancing from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
