Sitkans invited to a (socially-distanced) ‘Night on Broadway’

"A Night on Broadway" (7 p.m. Saturday, April 3, Sitka PAC) is a chance for Sitka audiences to reconnect with some of the marquee vocalists featured by the camp: Branden Noel Thomas, Jessica Mohr, Sam Faustine, Rhiannon Guevin, and Mina Brooks-Schmidt. Sitka’s live music scene returns with a Tribute to the late, great Eddie Van Halen

"Twenty-five percent of the audience, with 110-percent of the energy," say the performers (Sam Faustine, Trevor Wiest, Drew Sherman) for this weekend's live Tribute to Eddie Van Halen from the Sitka Performing Arts Center. The event is a comeback for Sitka' music scene, which has been dormant (or virtual) since March of 2021. Tickets available online at the SFAC website. Audience will be limited to 25-percent capacity, masks required, and there will be $5 cash back for audience members who produce their vaccination cards. Livestream available.

Kindergarten registration is something to look forward to for house-bound kids

Jill LeCrone is the principal at Baranof Elementary School. Registering students now (prior to April 12) for kindergarten will give the district a chance assess incoming students for placement next year, and put them in "Kindercamp" summer program. For more information on kindergarten registration, visit the Baranof Elementary page at the Sitka School District website. Registration takes about 15 minutes.
