Some of Sitka’s municipal landscape to get a more natural look

Bird biologist follows Hermit thrushes to Southeast

Allison Nelson is the the current Scientist in Residence Fellow (SIRF) at the Sitka Sound Science Center. She came to Sitka to further her research on the migratory patterns of the Hermit Thrush. Nelson is the founder and director of Gold Country Avian Studies, based in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Sitkans celebrate National Bike Month with full calendar of events

Jessica Pyatt is the National Bike Month "spokesperson" for the Sitka Bicycle Friendly Community Coalition. She joins coalition member Bill Foster to talk about "Bike to Work Week" and the "Ride of Silence" (6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, beginning at Crescent Harbor shelter) to honor those who have died cycling, and the "Sitka Community Bike Ride" (10:30 a.m. May 26, Totem Square, ride begins at 11).
